Wedding bouquets are become more and more personal all over the world and South Africa is no exception. Wedding bouquets range from the classic all-white formal styles to the exclusive designs with dazzling coloured flowers. There are many different types of wedding bouquet and this article is going to introduce you to four popular bouquet styles that you can use in your own wedding. These are Nosegays, Cascade bouquets, Hand tied bouquets and Contemporary bouquets. Let us look at each one in turn.
Nosegays bouquet
The Nosegays bouquet style is the most common wedding
bouquet style and most South African wedding venues have decorated
the reception with these wonderful and colourful flowers.

Nosegays are essentially round clusters of flowers and are also
known as "tussie mussie". The origins of the style are not well
documented but we can trace it back as far as the 14th century,
where the tussie mussie was used to mask bad smells - thus the name
"nosegay".

Cascade wedding bouquets
The
Cascade wedding bouquets have flowers that fall below the main
portion of the bouquet design. This wedding bouquets is very unique
and is a very voluptuous style, making it the main feature of the
wedding dress (costume).

Hand-tied bouquets
The
Hand-tied bouquets is a immaculate wedding bouquets created by
florists by placing the stems of the flowers, foliage & accessories
in their hand & wrapping them around the center of the design until
there are securely fastened. The Hand-tied bouquets are constructed
to show the natural growth of the stems, usually wrapped in ribbon
or french braided together.
The are less formal and are ideal for the casual weddings such as beach weddings or garden weddings. The style is perfect if you love the feeling of an unarranged gathering of flowers.
Contemporary bouquets
The
Contemporary bouquets are stimulated by the unconventional
ideas, designs and patterns and they are not designed with any
specific geometric form. The Contemporary bouquets are normally
created with flowers that have a definite form and character to a
bouquet such as calla lilies, anthuriums and orchids.
This wedding bouquet style represent the singularity of the bride and are ideal for a sophisticated, cosmopolitan style wedding. The style is simple and have the added grace of the asymmetrical design.
