MAID OF HONOUR CHECKLIST

6 months before
Get together with the bride, groom and best man to discuss the wedding plans.
Discuss the dress with the bride and ascertain who will pay for the outfit.
4 months before
Start to organise the bachelorette party or co-plan a joint party with the best man.
Help the bride to choose her wedding dress as well as the bridesmaid dresses.
Assist with the wedding invitations.
Assist with the wrapping and tagging of guest favours.
1 week before
Attend the pre-wedding parties, the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner (if any).
1 day before
Collect any and all hired clothing and accessories.
Assist with the decoration of the ceremony and reception venues if necessary.
On the day
Ensure bouquets are ready for the bride, bridesmaids and flower girl.
Assist the bride with her hair, make-up and getting dressed.
Ensure that the bridesmaids and flower girl get dressed and ensure that all final instructions are communicated.
Leave for the ceremony at least 10 minutes before the bride.
At the church
It is your duty to make sure that the bride’s dress, veil and train looks perfect before and during the ceremony.
Follow behind the bride and her father up the aisle.
Hold the bride's bouquet during the ceremony.
Keep the groom’s wedding ring until it is required (unless the best man or ring bearer are holding them).
Witness the signing of the wedding register (if required).
Leave the church accompanied by the best man after the bride and groom.
Depart for the reception with the bridesmaids and best man (following the bride and groom).
At the reception
Stand in the receiving line and greet the guests.
Assist with the accepting of gifts.
Dance with the best man once the bride and groom have completed their first dance.
Assist the bride when she changes into her going away outfit.
Take care of her dress and accessories (if required).
After the wedding
Return any hired clothing and accessories.
Assist the best man in delivering the gifts the bride and groom’s house.
Assist with the cleaning up of the venue after the reception.
