Where Can I Get A Wedding Dress Or Wedding Gown For The Bride? | Wedding Clothes
The wedding dress or wedding gown as some people would call it, is perhaps one of the most difficult things to get. Sure things like the wedding venue and the limousines cost a bit more, there are just not as hard to get when compared to a wedding gown/dress. Last night I was watching Scandal on etv and I couldn't help feeling sorry for Samantha who had everything about her wedding arranged by his faithful self proclaimed wedding planner Nhlanhla Baloyi except her wedding dress. She was really frustrated and any woman would probably feel the same or even worse.
The wedding attire is very important and the bridal party needs to look immaculate from head to toe. A wonderful wedding dress sets the mood for the wedding day or wedding night and you need to get this just right. This article is going to show you how to buy a wedding dress or wedding gown for yourself, and also choose the best clothes for your brides maids.
The wedding gown needs to look fabulous...
Buying
clothes for the groom and all his groomsmen isn't as difficult
as getting the clothes for the lady. The norm is a black tuxedo
for the men and some very colourful ties. Back in December when
we did the wedding for my friend John in Victoria Falls, I was
the best man and I wore a navy blue suite, the rest of the guys
wore black and John wore a bright white suite. We got all the
attire from one shop in Rivonia and we actually got a very good
deal. If you are looking for some affordable suites then I
recommend a small shop in Eloff Extension, when you are driving
towards Turfontein Racecource from Johannesburg CBD.
You can get some very nice attire there at factory prices and this will help you save money. Alternatively you can go to any of the men's shops in and around the shopping malls and you can get some very good tuxedos - however there will be highly priced at this locations normally. The clothes also have to match with the type of wedding for example if you are planning an outdoor or beach wedding you dont need to be wearing a suite. That would be ridiculous.
Getting the wedding gown is a bit different, I mean you cant exactly walk into Edgar's, Foschini or Woolworths and buy a wedding dress as if you are just getting a winter jersey. Oh no... you need to find a professional wedding tailor to design a wedding dress that will suite you. There are many wedding tailors around Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban and I can email you the full list of the ones closet to you on request. When you are hiring someone to make a wedding gown for you you need to communicate clearly what you are hopping to look like.
Talk to the designer and make sure that he or she understands what you really want as this ensures that you wont waste both of your time and money. Ask the tailor to show you some recent samples of the work that he will have done. Of course he wont be having the gowns with him, he can only show you the pictures. Politely ask for the contact details of the people who bought the dresses and give them a call to see if they would recommend that particular tailor.
There are many places where you can get wedding dresses in South Africa
Ask
around when you visit the salon. Most of the women there will
probably know someone who can design some wedding dresses for
you and your bridesmaids and this will save time. Get some
recommendations and you will be able to find something that you
need. Use the yellow pages to search for some designers that
will be close to you. Most people from England and the United
States just Google whatever they want. If you don't have access
to the internet then you should by now. If you do not have a
computer just go to the local internet cafe.. they will probably
charge you R10 per hour.
Use it to search for wedding dress designers in your area. For example if you are looking for shoes then you can type in something like "wedding shoes Johannesburg" and Google will list all the things that you need. You will be amazed by the things that you will get just from the searches.
Its also a good idea to buy all your wedding dresses, wedding shoes, wedding accessories, tuxedos, wedding bracelets, jewelry and anything else that might need for your wedding from one shop. There are a lot of wedding shops in Sandton, Bedfordview, Westage and Eastgate were you can actually buy all your attire for your special day at good prices. This will make it much easier for you to match all the things that you might need together easily and effectivey. I hope this can help you get the wedding clothes that you would want for your wedding celebration. Have a good day & cheers...
